Porsche Carrera GT
The last time I was in Chicago, I happened to be walking down North Rush street to dinner, past one of my favorite shops anywhere - Gold Coast Motors. If you’re a car nut, you have to go. Or at least check them out online. They’ve got all the crazy rolling stock you can feast your eyes on.
There’s one car that’s had my attention since it was introduced - the Porsche Carrera GT. This is because it’s the closest thing to a Formula 1 car that you can legally put on the street. Albeit, they’re a little overpriced at nearly half a million a copy (that’s for a used one by the way). But I guess in the supercar category fiscal responsibility isn’t a factor.
I had always wanted to see one. Then I heard one. Hearing it beats seeing it.
There’s nothing quite like the sound of 600+ horsepower coming out of a race tuned V10. This car literally SCREAMS. It sounds like a big screaming devil . Did I mention that it screams? The sounds this car makes are just plain scary. I don’t know how it passed legal sound decibel levels, because it’s not only incredibly exotic sounding, it is also very loud. Louder than Ferrari’s and Lambo’s. I’m sorry, did I tell you how this car sounds?
It’s crazy how this car sounds. Compared to the Carrera 4S, it’s a totally different car.
Anyway, I heard it pull up behind me and turned around just in time to see the driver near hit the curb with the left front wheel.
Of course a couple of pictures were in order…
