Canadian Olympic Gold
The 2010 Olympics exceeded everyone’s expectations, including mine. It was an event for the ages and I’m so glad to have been a small part of it. Our athletes all did a killer job. It was one of the best Canadian hosted events I can think of – a thousand times better than Expo ‘86!
These Olympic Games were so well done – and for the first time in my life – I saw fellow Canadian display their love of our country in a way that I’ve never seen before: with unrestrained passion and bravado.
Snowshoeing In The Sun
This is one of those posts where the pictures really tell the whole story so much better than words can.
However, there are a few thoughts that I must share about last weekend’s snow shoeing at Crystal Mountain. First – there’s nothing like getting outdoors after a long week of staring at a computer monitor!
Second, it’s [...]
Kelowna Wildfires – Where Are The Mars Water Bombers?
They’re in California. On a contract. Which is fine – they’re almost always on a contract because they’re privately owned by Coulson Aviation. Coulson can do whatever they want with their assets.
But I think they should be home, here in B.C. during the summer months and we as British Columbians should be willing to pay [...]
The Blackberry is Better than the iPhone
Well, after much usage and frustration, I have actually gone BACK to the Blackberry. Yup – I found it to be a superior tool for my needs.
The iPhone was fun and cool, but it was lame in key areas. So before you get one, I suggest you read my post. If you already have one, maybe you can tell me if you agree – either way, this conversation seems to be VERY polarized among my friends.
How I Dealt with a Massive Pain the Neck
The information in this post is something I wish I’d read ten years ago…when my neck really started to bother me. And I mean – REALLY BOTHER ME.
This is a post about how I dealt with the pain of a long term sports injury in my neck through exercise, stretching, strengthening and supplementation.
It all started in high school. I was playing rugby on the high school rugby [...]
A Beautiful Wedding In Montreal
I love weddings. This is a post about an incredibly well done wedding of some old friends. We combined the visit to Montreal with some vacation time.
Having been to many weddings and receptions, I must admit that this was probably the most beautiful and romantic wedding I can recall having been to.
Most of the guest list had flown in from western Europe – predominantly Holland, the UK and the Netherlands, since the bride [...]
So You Want to Become a Billionaire?
This is the first lottery that I have ever heard of which will pay out ONE BILLION dollars. Actually – it is going to paid out in Euros, which makes the prize even more incredible.
It is a website called billionairio.com
Here’s what that number looks like €1,000,000,000.
Billionairio claims to have better odds than any other [...]
Background SWAT Officer in i-Robot
At the time, i-Robot was the largest made for film production ever filmed in Canada. 185 million USD was the total budget. Will Smith got $20 million. I got $1,500 for a few scenes with the back of my head and a side profile over 7 days work.
But it was a blast. My agent told me that I am well suited to military and cop-type role roles. (I’m sure the Buzz Lightyear jaw line has something to do with that!).
Actually, there were so many special effects in this film that they were rumored to eat up most of the remaining budget. The [...]
High Intensity Weight Training with Jim Flanagan
On my last trip to Florida, I made a new friend who I’ll never forget. Meet Jim Flanagan. Meet BIG Jim Flanagan.
Here’s how the friendship started, I was dining at a steak house restaurant in Orlando that had been recommended to me by the concierge at the Peabody Hotel. The restaurant was called Del Frisco’s and it is a well known chain of steak restaurants on the East Coast of the USA.
While dining there, a very large, very tall [...]
