An easy hike up to Hardy Falls

There is a smell in the air when the leaves fall on the ground and start rotting.  You’d think from reading that sentence the smell would put one off.

Not me.

I like the smell of rotting leaves.  I like the smell of fall.  Fall smells also include the smell of burning leaves…and real wood fireplaces.

In fact it might be one of my favorite seasons.

Yesterday, I met up with an old friend in Peachland, BC for a short visit and a glass of wine.  Following some great Okanagan Shiraz, we took a walk up to Hardy Falls, which is about 4 kilometres south of Peachland.

The entrance sign to the parking lot says “Antlers Park”, NOT Hardy Falls.

The walk up to the falls takes about 10 minutes and is totally easy.  If you break a sweat making this walk, then you should go immediately to the doctor because it isn’t even really a hike, it’s more like a stroll.

It’s more of a walk in the woods on a very nice trail, which ends at…you guessed it, Hardy Falls.

Anyway, great colors for photography (even though the lighting was a bit weird and the histogram on my digicam was showing an usually bright signature for what looked like a rather dark day).

Now if I can only figure out how to replicate that fall smell for you…
