A Week In California

A few of you wondered what happened to me last week.  Well, it was the first week since I started the blog that I didn’t make one entry. This was deliberate.  In fact, I was in California on business.  I flew out of Vancouver to San Francisco and spent a few days there meeting with prospective clients.

Goofing around at Venice Beach in Los Angeles

This visit was followed up by a day in San Jose and Mountainview to meet with one existing client and another prospective one.

Wednesday, I drove from San Jose to Los Angeles, which is something that I’ve never done before.  It was a 3 1/2 hour drive in the Mustang convertible rental.

Friday morning I flew back home from LAX in Los Angeles, which is NOT my favorite airport.  Overall, it was a very successful trip and I’m certain that it will help grow more business.

The lesson that I learned by not posting anything, is that very few people proactively said anything to me directly.  My suspicion is that those who are subscribed to my blog, don’t care if I don’t publish any content because, like me, they only want real, original content.

They don’t want content for the sake of content.  In other words, blog post frequency matters, but not as much as you would think.

I’m sure if I had a bigger audience that people would care more.  I also thought about how Twitter makes so much sense for those who just don’t have time to sit down and write out a quick post like this one.  It also makes sense for people who don’t have the time to sit down and read blogs either.

But for some reason….Twitter seems like a passing fad to me and I just can’t get into  it.

What are your thoughts on blog post frequency or on Twitter?

  1. Less really is more. but in the case of Twitter, i can’t help but think it is a technology that will lead to something beneficial rather than being beneficial on its own.

I checked it out a long time ago and did some posts, but i can’t be that bothered to read about what most people post. 99% of it (like most of the internet) is garbage.
